Train + Create—Bates Dance Festival’s 13th annual winter intensive—returns to NYC in partnership with Movement Research!

Offering inspired dance training and creative exchange, this three-day intensive takes place Friday, January 8 through Sunday, January 10, 2027, in Movement Research’s studio spaces at 122 Cultural Center.  Train + Create offers a preview of BDF’s Professional Training Program, blending rigorous daily dance technique with creative process.

All morning classes will be postmodern technical training with Jenn Nugent and André Zachery. Afternoon classes are one-day workshops with Tania Isaac, Ogemdi Ude, and Ishmael Houston-Jones, reflecting each instructor’s creative process.
