Versa-Style Repertory: Guardians of Street Dance
Explore selected choreography from Versa-Style Street Dance Company’s -Tribute: Guardians of Street Dance, a concert dance work honoring the pioneers and innovators who shaped Street Dance culture. Led by Jackie “Miss Funk” Lopez, students will investigate the movement vocabulary, grooves, musicality, storytelling, and performance qualities that define Versa-Style’s artistic approach. Alongside learning repertory, dancers will examine the cultural history and intentions behind the work, and how Street Dance traditions translate to the concert stage. Freestyle and individuality remain central: even within set choreography, students are encouraged to bring their own voice, creativity, and relationship to the music. Together, the class will celebrate community, authenticity, and the responsibility of carrying Street Dance’s legacy forward.
