Gaga/people Class + In Practice Session

Week 2: July 25 – 29

Maree ReMalia

We use body-based, creative practices to open new possibilities for navigating complexity – all while cultivating care in understanding ourselves, each other, and the world of which we are part. We are invited to move in ways that feel good to our bodies and invest in practices aiming to support collaborative making and collective well-being. Each day begins with a Gaga/people Class, engages compositional tools and improvisational methods, and ends with rest, reflection, and integration. Through guided explorations and game-like structures, we explore a wide range of movement, from quiet, nuanced gestures akin to moving meditations to faster, full-bodied expressions. Communally and independently, we activate the voice, write, draw, witness, listen, and compose. Flowing through this range of experiences, we can be joyful and grieving, awkward and confident, silly and intentional; we can sink into the weight of our flesh, while accessing lightness in our bones and attend to our internal impulses as we sense the horizon beyond the room. *Please bring a journal and water bottle and wear clothing comfortable for moving; open to folks across disciplines, identities, and experience levels, ages 16+.
