Dance Your Embodied Truth

Kimani Fowlin

Explore your embodied truth through methods of ritual, self reflection, and collaboration centered in African Diasporic movement.  Embodied truth is the liberatory practice of aligning mind, body, and spirit by honoring our past and cultivating our artistry and activism through storytelling, community-building, and meaning-making. We will create choreography inspired by truths shared, witnessed,  and acknowledged in community. Through this class you will develop a choreographic practice that is authentic, honest, and moves your truth.
We will dive into West African, post and contemporary modern, House, Hip Hop, and acrobatics as well as techniques found within your body to generate movement possibilities. We will use improvisation, and choreographic phrases to invigorate your authentic movement vernacular.
