About Tina
Tina Mullone, is an artist, scholar and educator. She trained under Fernando Schaffenburg, a former member of Count Basil’s Ballet Russes and founder of the first Fort Worth Ballet Company and at Dallas Black Dance Theatre under the direction of Darryl Sneed. She continued her training attending intensives hosted by National Association of African American Dance Teachers/Umfundalai, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Urban Bush Women Summer, Katherine Dunham Institute and many others. Throughout her time, she has performed with several professional dance companies and taught dance in various environments from public school to private universities. She co-founded and co-directed a performance art duet, M2 (m squared). She continues her tenure with Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth (CD/FW) and Beckles Dancing Company (BDC) to this very day as a performer and choreographer. She is serving as Regional Director of ACDA and as a National Water Dance ambassador.
Miss Mullone is a professional certified teacher of Umfundalai contemporary African dance technique and holds a certification in Pilates mat.
Miss Mullone graduated with a BA in Art History and a MFA from Texas Christian University.
She is also an avid dance investigator looking at the intricacies of space, spirituality and movement through the Black female dancing body.
