About Caroline

Caroline Rocher Barnes is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Towson University and an accomplished former professional ballet dancer. She trained in France, Switzerland, and New York before joining Dance Theatre of Harlem in 1999, where she became a Principal Dancer. Her career also includes the Bavarian State Ballet, Lyon Opera Ballet, and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. Named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch,” she has taught and coached dancers internationally and for leading professional companies, including LINES Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. She holds an MFA in Dance and certifications in Gyrotonic®, Gyrokinesis®, Functional Awareness®, and ABT® training.
