About Nattie

Nattie Trogdon (she/her) is a performer, choreographer, and educator, part of a collaborative duo with her life and creative partner, Hollis Bartlett. She creates dance works, films, and research-based practices aimed to disrupt assumptions of performance and personhood. Her collaborations have been presented in NYC at venues such as LMCC’s River to River Festival, Movement Research at Judson Church, Gibney, Center for Performance Research, Coffey Street Studios, The Newhouse Center at Snug Harbor, Duo Multicultural Arts Center, and the Future Dance Festival at the 92nd Street Y. She’s been an artist in residence at Marble House, The Atlantic Center for the Arts, Mana Contemporary, 14th Street Y and was the first collaborative pair selected for the New Directions Choreography Lab at The Ailey School. Her performing and teaching practices are deeply tied into her dance making. As a performer, Nattie has worked with Kathy Westwater, Catherine Galasso, Joanna Kotze, Kimberly Bartosik, David Dorfman, and Doug Varone. She has been a guest artist and faculty member at Princeton University, NYU, Swarthmore College, Rutgers, SUNY Brockport, Montclair State University and SUNY Purchase. Born and raised in rural North Carolina, she is a graduate of the high school program at the UNC School of the Arts and received her BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase. Currently she is an MFA candidate and teaching fellow in the Department of Dance at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. www.nattieandhollis.com
