About Sarah

Sarah Chien works with improvisation, embodied personal storytelling, and interdisciplinary collaboration. As one of only a few Americans to work extensively with David Zambrano, her classes and workshops place her favorite forms in conversation: QiGong, Flying Low, Passing Through, and improvisation for performance. She has taught contemporary floorwork and improvisation classes at the National Ballet of Ecuador, Princeton University, CollettivO CineticO (Italy), and throughout New York City.

She has performed her own and collaborative projects throughout New York City, the United States, as well as in Greece, Slovakia, Spain, and Italy. A queer, multiracial, daughter of immigrants, Chien approaches performances as a way to reveal more of the self and bring people together.
