Postmodern 5
Our time together will emphasize breath, athleticism, off-balanced curves in space, and generosity of spirit. We will begin each class with both improvised and structured walking warm-ups to invigorate our connection to the floor and our weight shifts. Walking games will help connect us to one another. Generous breathwork, follow-along combinations with deep knee bends and arms that awaken the spine, and floorwork will continue to heat our bodies and ready our joints for further movement. As we move through center and traveling explorations, we will enliven syncopated feet, encourage a swirling pelvis, and love our luscious limbs. We will challenge our risk-taking and depth through playing with speed, momentum, and going upside down. Class will round out with time to witness, borrow from, and encourage each other during the culminating phrase.
Advanced-level students will focus on deepening their understanding of their physicality and enhancing their artistic choices regarding dynamics, performance expression, and nuance.
