Jazz Rep

Michael Blake

Within the choreographic process, the dancers will learn how to engage the spectator’s senses without saying a word, telling the story of human experience through movement.  The artistic process will challenge the dancer to discover their personal power of expression purely through physical terms. Dancers will be introduced  to the movement concepts of Richard Schechner, Michael Chekhov, Rudolf Laban, and to the concepts, qualities, and dynamics of our traditional modern dance master storytellers. Some text (written by the performers), and some vocals (singing, sound) may be used to layer the texture, and atmosphere of the work. Must be enrolled in Blake’s Jazz course.
